Current representative: Rep. Tenisha Yancey (D-Harper Woods) is the current representative for the 1st House District. According to the House Democrats, the 1st District includes Harper Woods, Grosse Pointe Woods, Grosse Pointe Shores and a portion of Northeast Detroit.
Yancey was first elected to the Michigan House in a special election in November 2017. According to her official website, Yancy previously worked for the Wayne County Executive’s Office and for the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office. She also served on the Harper Woods Board of Education.
