Current representative: Rep. Cynthia A. Johnson (D-Detroit) is the current representative for the 5th House District. According to House Democrats, she previously worked as a corrections officer for the Michigan Department of Corrections. She then began working parole and probation cases. Johnson has also hosted her own radio show.
She was first elected to the Michigan House in 2018, taking office in 2019.
