49TH HOUSE DISTRICT (A portion of Genesee County)

Current representative: The current representative for the 49th District is Rep. John Cherry (D-Flint). The district includes the cities of Flushing, Mount Morris and Swartz Creek, part of the city of Flint and Flint and Mount Morris townships. According to his official website, Cherry had a small business with his wife, Teresa. He also served on the Flint Charter Commission.

Rep. Cherry was first elected to the Michigan House in 2018, taking office in 2019.
